According to a Bitcoin Woods tweet, the Bitcoin halving leaves less than 50,000 blocks and the halving date will occur on April 22, 2024. According to this timeline, the event will occur within 342 days. Fluctuations are expected, depending on whether the blocks close earlier or later than the specified 10-minute interval. The upcoming halving will be the fourth in Bitcoin history, cutting the block reward from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC. There have been 33 halves in the protocol, the last of which will occur in 2140, when the block reward is zero.
